Whirlwind trip there and back again

Something I have, unfortunately, needed to do is a trip back home in the middle of a long trip visiting family.

Weirdly the first one that I did turned out very well. After getting up at the crack of dawn I headed home. I hit up a local renaissance festival that I was passing . I had thought that I would just go home the next day so I stopped at it for 1-2 hours I think? Then I finished my trip home for my laptops power cord.

I was home for about five minuets more before I couldn't handle the boredom and I just... Drove back the same day. I pasted by a terrible rain storm on my way out and then I was back at my families house. 

All in all the sun was up the whole time for my round trip. Sun rise at the start and then sun down when I returned. I was going the speed limit. There was no rush but I know how long the drive Should have been and with the stop at the renaissance festival? Even with out it I should have been getting back int he midnight to 2am range.

Not the first time weird things have happened while driving. 

I'm still looking for the exist that doesn't exist for the city whose name I don't know that also doesn't exist. I can find the area were the On Ramp to get back on the interstate had been. It went from a one lane construction-narrow road back to a three lane. But there is no on ramp there. Every time I have passed by since I look and there is nothing.

Also the random cryptid in the tiny town with the stop light that google now no longer takes my rout past. Both were separate one way trips.

Have I gotten a sash cam? Yes. Does it have a memory card big enough for my whole trip? Nope! But maybe next time.

I'll point out that big rig truck drivers are legally not allowed to drive more then 8 hours a day since around 2008-ish. I was working at a moving company at the time and it was a Big Deal. You never realized how dangerous it was and they got into a LOT of trouble if the messed with their logs.

I am so excited that she is back! And I am hoping everything is going well for her. Her last upload to YouTube was three years ago. Yesterday she posted two  new videos and then today there was a third!

Because I am in the US I don't know all the local details but what little I have heard is that she was able to do a legal action against her old agent/distributor/?? for control over her brand. From what I heard this is not an easy thing in her country. Last year she made an announcement that she was back and I'm very happy that she is.

Liziqi's videos are very cottagecore idealistic fantasy China edition. Do I still binge watch them? Yes, yes I do.

This time I hope her experience goes much better and that she has as much enjoyment from making her videos as /i do when watching them.

Mechanical Keyboard musings

With mechanical keyboards I haven’t seen too many affordable options for cool looking frames. Please note that by affordable I mean dirt cheap. Unlike with membrane keyboards that are over all cheaper and have been around long enough that they can crank out so cool looks. 

Which makes me wonder about using the gram for a mechanical keyboard.

Searches don’t actually give me much info. Most all of the posts I have seen are either talking about converting keyboards or they are copies of other posts. Lots of content piracy in that search.

The only reason I am searching for an answer is because I want to make a purple mechanical keyboard that isn’t going to break the bank. Also the color for the frame doesn’t seem to be a thing and i really don’t want to paint anything.

I already dropped the cash for the key caps. They are super pretty and aesthetic.

I am considering getting new switches but the Holy Pandas and the Holy Panda X’s are super super $$$. Even on the knockoff sites the Holy Pandas are still $$$.

Considering the majority of my collection of two mechanical keyboards are both gaterons… and any keyboard i would experiment with would also have gaterons…. I might just go with them for the time being.

I really want a purple case for the very purple key caps. I think I might just buy the membrane keyboard with the case or gram color that i want and then hunt around for a mechanical keyboard that will fit inside it. Which means I’ll be taking it apart to have the case with me while i shop so i look like a dork. Or someone that is super dedicated to the art. Whichever.

If this ends up working i will be super happy. The keyboard whose frame i like is about $20-ish so I would prefer to know if it would work first…. But… at the same time I don’t want to wait. I think that unless I find good evidence that it will work, or if i figure out how to do the measurements, then I will just end up waiting a few more months until I can get into a shop to ask someone directly. Some day.

Did I mention that I started taking guitar lessons on the spring? If not, I am and it is extremely relaxing. Well, when I'm not hitting the wrong string or such. I am so amazed at how poor my dexterity is these day. This is really helping and I am going to look up some stretching methods and tab when I get the chance.

But! Yeah, this whole week has been crazy with the Fourth being in the middle of the week. I kept thinking Thursday was Monday and I made a lot of people laugh when I was checking them out. Fun times I tell ya.

This Monday I need to remember to swing by the collage and register for classes. I have to get my Associates because I am tired of just having it hanging in limbo. It needs to be done and it needs to be done now. Which will most likly push back my plans of buying a house but thems the breaks.

This also brings to mind that I need to get out of the house more. I had the whole house to myself and did I do anything different? No. Did I get anything accomplished? No.Am I pissed at my self? Yes.

Time managment is something I have been say that I need to better utilize and this week proved it. Now I jast have to figure out the how, the when and how not to go insane. Oi.

One Year Older

Yesterday was my birthday and I am now 29. Woop-dee-do. This weekend I am dragging my parents to a few store that I have been wanting to check out and then for Dim Sum. The tasty-ness will be mine! Mwahahaha!

On the college front I am waiting for my acceptance letter before I can go any further. I did find out there is part time dorms. If I can get into it I won't have to pay as much nor have to commute home at 10pm. Which in my opinion is totally worth the money. Woot.

The job hunt is going slow. I'm staying in touch with my agents. One let me know about an opening that was almost twice as far away as my current job. I politely declined it and thanked her for thinking of me. I hope no bridges were burned.

During my own searches I jut poke around and if something really catches my eye I'll toss out a resume to it. Providing I remember. I haven't been spending too much time in front of my computer at home, which is a good thing.

On the future front, I realized while driving into work that if I was going to be out of work while looking for a job in NYC then why don't I take a few months and look in San Fransisco first? My friend and my sister both think I should move back there because it would be good for me. Cash would be tight but it could turn out ok. Even if I wasn't in the city itself but in the general Bay Area it would still be good.This will definitely require further planning.

So, the waiting and planning game is getting old. One day I'll be free to a different waiting game but for now this works.

The Game that wasn't.

Jonathan Miles Fingerjig Typing Game is the best thing in the world if you are looking to improve not only your typing, but also you vocabulary. It is also the signal most evil thing in the world. Because if you are confidant about your typing you will be crushed by this game.

Basically it pulls words out from it's massive library and has you type them. they start out short like mot and ennobling. then they test you on one side of the keyboard then the other. But then they whip out words like Prenominations, overdecorates, and epigrammatizers. And when your racing the timer, it's just not very nice.

Fortunately at the end of every section they show you what words you typed and if you click on a word it will send you to it's definition. Very handy.

I introduced this to my mom one day while practicing my typing. She got upset because I kept shushing her and told me it couldn't be that hard. My evil smile at the time should have tipped her off that she was in for a world of hurt. :3 I got such an evil glare from her when I pointed out that she was shushing me while she typed. :3

Since I started playing this game, barley once a week, I have noticed an improvement in my typing and it's speed. Seeing as how every job I look at says the want a minimum typing speed of 40-60wpm and mine is a lowly 28wpm.(up from 24) I have some hope.
